Car accident

Introduction

Are you someone who will have sleepless nights thinking about the expenses you will incur after your warranty expires? Have you strived in vain to save a couple of cash as part of your emergency fund to pay for unexpected repairs? Will expensive repairs bust your budget making it hard to pay for fundamentals such as food, rent, or utilities? If you answer yes to these questions then you need extended vehicle protection (EVP) services for peace of mind.

Extended vehicle protection is an agreement to cover auto repairs after the factory warranty expires. One of the most popular financial services companies that offer extended protection in the US is USAA.

USAA (United Services Automobile Association) company was formed in 1922 when 25 army officers came together to insure each other. Since then, the organization continued to grow as a membership-based provider of choice for the US military community and their immediate families.

The company offers services like insurance (vehicles, boats, health, rental and life insurance, etc) as well as banking, investing, real estate, retirement, and IRAS among other services.

USAA EVP Features

Extended car warranty

The company once offered an extended car warranty. However, it was canceled with a claim that the company is advancing to better ways of services. An extended warranty is one of the most considered qualities in extended protection services.

If this company was your top preferred extended warranty provider, and you are still stranded on where to head, feel free to share with us your dilemma. We will show you how to claim your previous subscription and help you find a better option for an extended car warranty.

Coverage plans

USAA has two major plans to choose from, namely, comprehensive protections and manufacturer wrap protection.

The manufacturer wrap protection: This plan covers vehicle proprietors who have over 30 days or 1, 000 miles left on their original warranty. Even more, it is valid for both gasoline vehicles and diesel ones. However, it doesn’t offer powertrain warranty such as the engine, drive axle, and transmission cover.

Comprehensive protection plan: This plan is very similar to the original manufacturer warranty and it covers nearly every component or system of your vehicle. The arrangement is ideal for vehicles of up to 10 years old. Besides, the vehicle should have 115,000 miles left on its original warranty.

No deductible or down payment on the services

Another important feature that comes alongside the plans is that the company doesn’t deduct any down payment in its services. However, it is worth noting that this generosity is not extended to 24 hours roadside assistance benefits. Generally, most companies, if not all, will deduct at least $100 for their services, so this is a unique feature to USAA.

Free road assistance

This feature is included in all the two plans. The services available include, replacing punctured tires, and towing to the nearest repair factory when stuck on a public roadway. Other services include replacing the lost key or lockout and emergency gasoline delivery though the prices of the gas and key are not covered. To make it a bit clear, roadside assistance will pay for the fuel and every other requirement delivered to your location but the actual price of fuel and key you will have to cater for.

Rental car coverage

A full rental car reimbursement is available for both plans to help you when your vehicle is involved in an accident. The full reimbursement is available for any rental expense of up to $50 daily. Once you meet the payment terms, you can lease a vehicle and use it until your own is out of the repair shop. This is a unique feature to the company since most companies will reimburse you up to $ 30 but for only 5 days.

Deployment Deferment and Payment Options

The deployment Deferment option is unique to USAA and that makes sense given it is a military-oriented extended protection. This option lets you put your maintenance agreements on hold until you get back home.

A covered member can suspend the services contract for up to 15 months. Once you get home, the USAA will extend your warranty expiration by the timeframe you were deployed. Even more, they will also repay you for one oil change up to $45.

Besides, USAA's extended warranty lets you pay for your policy automatically or when it is convenient. You can decide to pay in an installment and spread your payment over an 18 months period. You can pay from your account by phone, check or change it to your credit card.

How Do I Get USAA EVP?

USAA is only ideal for the military and their eligible family members. So let’s assume that you are an eligible member who wants to know how to get the USAA services. Is USAA EVP worth the price?
