When it comes to extended car warranties, this company offers nationwide coverage, a lengthy mileage and the possibility to spread the payments over a period of 18 months.
What kind of plans does USAA offer?
USAA has two major coverage plans to choose from: Manufacturer Wrap Protection and Comprehensive Protection.
The manufacturer wrap protection plan is for both gasoline vehicle and for diesel ones. This plan has a coverage a bit similar to powertrain warranties, only a bit more complex. It doesn’t cover the engine, transmission and drive axle though.
Requirements: This plan is tailored for car owners who have more than 30 days or 1,000 miles left on their original warranty. USAA’s extended car warranty starts at the moment your original one ends.
The comprehensive protection plan covers nearly every component/system of your vehicle, being very similar to the original manufacturer’s warranty.
Requirements: This plan covers vehicles that are up to 10 years old and have less than 115,000 miles on them.
These plans come with a 60-day money back guarantee.
What features does USAA include with its plans?
One attractive feature of USAA’s extended car warranty is that it doesn’t charge a deductible or a down payment. Most if not every competitor charges at least a $100 deductible for their services.
As for other features included we can mention the free roadside assistance and the full rental car reimbursement, which are available for both plans. Not only that, but USAA doesn’t limit the number of days you can rent a car for. It has an unlimited number of days, so you can use rented cars until your own vehicle is out of the repair shop. The company offers up to $50 per day for rental car reimbursement.
USAA also has a Deployment Deferment option that lets you put your extended warranty on hold until you get back home, which is a unique feature we haven’t seen in another service so far.
USAA allows you to pay them in installments and you can spread the payment on a 18-month period.
