Our cars are long-term investments so we want to be sure we can rely on them for as long as possible. But no matter how careful you are with your vehicle, sooner or later, it will suffer from mechanical breakdowns. All cars are prone to that, especially those that have some mileage on them. When you buy a new vehicle, you are offered a manufacturer’s warranty that will keep you safe and relaxed for a few years, depending on the car make and dealer. Best case scenario, your manufacturer warranty will last for 4, 5 or even 6 years (Volkswagen, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Mitsubishi). But the standard warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

What is an extended car warranty?

As a car owner, you have to make sure you are still protected in case of a breakdown even if your original warranty has expired. And that is exactly what extended car warranty services provide. An extended vehicle protection commits to pay for your car repairs, in case of a breakdown. There are different types of contracts out there and they all come with their own offer in terms of coverage. Some of them only cover the basic components of the vehicle, others offer a comprehensive protection, similar to your manufacturer’s warranty.  The more expensive the policy is, the more parts will be covered.

There is a plethora of extended car warranty providers available nowadays and they all strive to beat the competition through more appealing eligibility criteria and features.

What is Autopom!?

Autopom! is a reputable car insurance provider based in California. The company is renowned for its extended vehicle protection contracts, offered for both new and used cars.

Autopom! has 20 plans to offer, grouped in 4 main levels of coverage. They differ in terms of mileage, price and covered parts.

Some of the plans offered by Autopom! have nationwide coverage. Autopom! covers cars that are up to 15 years old and have up to 200,000 miles on them. The exception is California, where it only covers vehicles that are up to 10 years old and have up to 120,000 miles.

The 4 levels of coverage

The 4 levels of coverage offered by Autopom! are: Powertrain Plus, Mid-level, High-level and Exclusionary.

The Exclusionary plans are the most expensive ones but also the most comprehensive ones in terms of coverage.

The Powertrain Plus level has plans that only offer basic coverage. Only the essential systems of the car are covered, such as: transmission, engine, transfer case, drive axle, differential assembly. However, there is the option to add extra components to the coverage (fuel system, electrical, etc.), for an extra charge.

All the plans offered by Autopom! include a 30-day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the service, you can get a full refund as long as you request it in this timeframe.

Autopom! offers 24/7 roadside assistance and rental vehicle assistance with all their plans. The roadside assistance includes towing, emergency fuel services, unlocking the car and more.

The rental vehicle assistance means that in case your car breaks down and needs to go in the shop for repairs, Autopom! will reimburse you for a rental car for up to 5 days.

Other useful features included with Autopom! are tire protection and trip interruption reimbursement. With the latter, you’ll be reimbursed for hotel money and other expenses, if your car breaks down while you are in the middle of a road trip.
