Robot vacuums are great little cleaning devices that save you a lot of time and effort. They can be used on a daily basis and most of them even if you’re not home, because you can schedule cleanings on them straight from your phone.
The Ecovacs Deebot N79S is a really good bargain because you can get it for approximately $200, which is a good price for this type of appliances.
Features
The Deebot N79S is not the smartest robot vacuum out there. Nor does it come with the most complex set of features. It is a pretty basic device, but it is a budget-friendly one and it gets the job done.
The Deebot N79S is manufactured in China, by Ecovacs Robotics. The company has more than 20 years of experience in home robotic appliances.

The N79s comes with the common circular design, one button on top of it, for enabling the auto mode and two side brushes and the main roller brush on the bottom. The N79s is short enough to fit under most furniture. The power switch is located on the side and you’ve got the sensors on the front bumper.
The package also includes a remote control, which doesn’t look that modern. The remote allows you to send the bot back to its charging dock, you can use it to enable the Auto Clean mode and start/pause a cleaning cycle. However, the N79s can be controlled via your smartphone, as well, because it comes with a mobile app. So our guess is that you’ll find it more convenient to use your phone instead of the remote.
In order to use the robot vacuum with your phone, you have to connect the vacuum using its WiFi capabilities. The setup process will be smooth and the app will pretty much do everything by itself.
The Ecovacs N79s works with Amazon Alexa, so you can give commands for spontaneous cleanings and more.
The N79s is a bit loud, but not to the point where it would be a deal breaker.
Cleaning modes
There are four cleaning modes you can switch between: Auto, Edge, Spot and Room. The Auto mode cleans your entire home, the Edge mode focuses more on corners and edges, the Spot mode is useful for vacuuming just specific parts of the room and the Room mode is also a more general mode, but unlike Auto, which works on cleaning the entire home equally, it focuses more on a specific room.
Thanks to the app control, you can schedule cleanings even when you’re not home. The app also lets you see the battery level, which, while we’re on it, it’s quite solid. A single charge will last you for approximately 95 minutes, which is long enough for the N79s to clean your entire home, as long as you don’t live in a palace. The N79s takes around 4 hours to fully charge.
While the N79s does bump into things from time to time, it can master stairs decently. When it reaches the edge it turns around and avoids them.
At $200, the Ecovacs Deebot N79s is a great bargain. It will do most of the things other more expensive robots do, but without breaking the bank.
