foot cream applying foot massagers

People tend to take care of every single part of their body, from hair, to face, hands and so on. We clean them, we hydrate them and we nourish them with various lotions, scrubs, creams and masks. But somehow, we don’t seem to extend that care to our feet as well. They are the last ones to be pampered, treated and cared for, unless there’s something to really bother us. Our feet deserve at least the same attention as the rest of our body, given that they have to sustain it all, to endure years and years of walking, running and being stuck in uncomfortable shoes.

Exhausted and uncared for feet show through cracked heels, blisters, dry skin, calluses and other foot related problems. That is why it is important to apply regular treatments, massages and foot care products to keep them healthy and in tip-top shape. And you don’t have to spend a fortune on salons or cosmetics in order to do that. You can learn how to make your own moisturizers, creams, scrubs and oils.

Here are some homemade foot care concoctions for you to try:

  • Foot scrub. It is very useful in getting rid of the tough skin on your heels. Here is an easy recipe:

Ingredients:

100 ml sweet almond oil

4 drops tea tree oil

2 drops myrrh essential oil

8 drops lemon oil

7 ounces salt flakes

All you have to do is mix all the oils together, stir them, add the salt flakes and that’s it. Store the scrub in jars and use only after you first soften the skin of your feet by soaking them in warm water for about 5 minutes

  • Coconut oil and Shea butter cream. Coconut is truly miraculous when it comes to taking care of your skin. It acts as a disinfectant and moisturizer, while the Shea butter has healing properties. This cream is very efficient for people with cracked heels.

Ingredients:

¼ cup Shea butter

¼ cup coconut oil

10 drops oregano essential oil

10 drops peppermint essential oil

3 tbsp. beeswax

Put 1 inch of water in a pan and place a mason jar in it. Heat the pan and add the beeswax, Shea butter and coconut oil in the jar. Let them melt and then remove the jar.

After the mixture cools, blend it using a blender and then add the drops of peppermint and oregano. Store the cream in your fridge and use daily.

  • Tea tree spray. Tea tree is also a very popular ingredient when it comes to foot care products. It is very refreshing and effective in treating skin problems such as verrucas, athlete’s foot, warts and more.

Ingredients:

5 drops tea tree oil

2 drops lemon essential oil

60 ml water

20 ml fresh lemon juice

75 ml vodka

Use an empty, clean spray bottle to pour in and mix all ingredients. Shake before use. Also, make sure you don’t spray any on your face, because it can dry your skin (due to the alcohol).
