Introduction

An electric toothbrush has proven to be more effective in cleaning your teeth than a manual toothbrush. That's why if you've been using manual toothbrushes all your life, the time has come to finally move on to an electric toothbrush.

That being said, choosing your first toothbrush is quite a challenge in and of itself. One thing for sure, you should pick an electric toothbrush from a reputable brand, such as Oral B. And then, you should also pick an electric toothbrush that was made primarily for new users.

Oral B offers two kinds of electric toothbrushes that fit the bill. The oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000. Both of them are great options for beginners. That being said, both models are not created equal. So, which one of them is the better option? This brief article will answer this question for you.

Comparison between Oral B Pro 1000 and Oral B Pro 3000

There are seven categories in which we will compare oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000. They are the cleaning modes, timer, and quad pacer, battery life, pressure sensor, price, what's inside the box when you buy them, and finally if there are any additional features inside.

1. Cleaning modes

Every Oral B electric toothbrush is equipped with a particular cleaning mode. Usually, the more advanced the toothbrush, the more cleaning modes it would have. Different cleaning modes would give different brushing sensations based on the condition of your teeth and the kind of dental care that you want to achieve.

Oral B Pro 1000 is equipped with one cleaning mode called the daily clean. This is the default cleaning mode for regular teeth. Oral B Pro 3000, on the other hand, is equipped with three cleaning modes, which are daily clean, gum care, and sensitivity mode. So on this one we between Oral B 1000 vs. Oral B 3000 , the 3000 does win as the lower model only has one cleaning method.

2. Timer and a quad pacer

For a more effective cleaning result, dentists recommend we divide the teeth into four different sections. The upper left, upper right, lower left, and lower right. You should spend enough time on each section for thirty seconds with a total brushing time of two minutes for every session.

Both Oral B pro 1000 and Oral B pro 3000 have a quad pacer and timer. The quad pacer would give an audible alarm every thirty seconds to remind you to change sections. While the timer would ring after the two minutes mark to remind you to end the brushing session.

3. Battery life

Both oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000 are equipped with a rechargeable battery. There's no need to buy another battery whenever the power has run out. Just leave it charged all night long and you'll be able to use it for a long time.

That being said, both oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000 have different kinds of batteries inside them. Oral b Pro 1000 is powered by a NiMH battery while oral b pro 3000 is powered by a Li-Ion battery. And that's why oral b pro 1000 has around a week of battery life while oral b pro 3000 has a whopping two weeks of battery life.

4. Pressure sensor

You should pay close attention to the amount of pressure that you use when brushing your teeth. Too much pressure and you could do more harm than good. Even worse, you could also potentially hurt your gum. But if you brush it too lightly, then you won't be able to clean your teeth properly.

Both Oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000 have a built-in pressure sensor inside. That being said, they're not created the same way. When it detects that you've put too much pressure, Oral b pro 1000 would only slow the rotation of the brush down while Oral b pro 3000 would activate the glaring red light on its handle.

5. Price

This is the one category that differs the most between oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000. When I write this article, oral b pro 1000 is priced at $39.86 on Amazon and oral b pro 3000 is priced at $89.90 on Amazon. The price difference is more than double between both models.

The price difference reflects the difference in features and the bells and whistles that you got inside the box. That being said, when you use the toothbrush in real life, there's not much difference. Both toothbrushes do a good enough job of cleaning your teeth.

6. What's inside the box

This is another difference that is reflected by the prices. You pay more for oral b pro 3000 than oral b pro 1000 and that money would get you more stuff inside the box. When you purchase an oral b pro 1000, you get the electric toothbrush handle, one cross action brush head, and a charging station.

When you purchase an oral b pro 3000, you get the electric toothbrush handle, one cross action brush head, a charging station, and one toothbrush head storage compartment that could hold four brush heads. Unfortunately, none of them has a travel case inside the box.

7. Additional features

This is another key difference between oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000. There are no additional features within the oral b pro 1000 other than the core essential features. Oral b pro 3000, on the other hand, is equipped with Bluetooth inside.

Oral b has an app that you could install for both Android and iOS smartphones. And every Bluetooth-enabled electric toothbrush from Oral b could take advantage of this app. By connecting your toothbrush to the app, you'd get detailed instructions while brushing your teeth and also a detailed log of your brushing sessions.

Both oral b pro 1000 and oral b pro 3000 are the line of electric toothbrushes from Oral B that are geared primarily towards new users. And both of them are equipped with essential features that could do a wonderful job at cleaning your teeth.

That being said, they're not created equal. Although when comparing  Oral B Pro 1000 vs oral b pro 3000  they both come with the same feature when it comes to the timer and a quad pacer. But in terms of cleaning modes, pressure sensor, battery life, additional features, and also what you get inside the box, oral b pro 3000 is clearly the superior option.

But with all the premium features also comes a premium price tag. Oral b Pro 3000 costs about twice as much as oral b pro 1000. In real-life usage, there's no noticeable difference between the two. But if you are attracted to all the additional bells and whistles of oral b pro 3000 and willing to pay more for them, then don't hesitate to get it. But you won't go wrong with either one of them.
