Miele WDB020 washing machine features white front-load washing machine

TheWDB020 is a popular front-load washer manufactured by the German company Miele. Miele is renowned for its high-quality home appliances and it makes a wide variety of products in addition to washing machines: vacuum cleaners, ovens, refrigerators and more.

The company has been on the market for over 120 years.

The Miele WDB020 is one of their best-selling front-load washers, for various reasons. This is a very economical model, with an energy label of A+++, a load capacity of approximately 15.4 pounds and an energy consumption of 175 kWh per year.

Design and features
The design of the Miele WDB020 review we did showed us that it is a combination of classic and modern. The washer has a rotary selector on the right and a LED touch control display in the middle. The washer’s enamel material is scratch and corrosion resistant. The door opens and close manually and, if you really have to, you can unlock it even during the wash cycle.

The Miele WDB020 weighs a little under 200 lbs. and has a maximum speed of 1,400 RPM.

The touch display is straightforward and easy to control. From the touch panel you can adjust settings such as the wash temperature, spin speed and more.

The washer comes with 12 wash cycles:

  • shirts (which is great if you want to prevent creasing and iron your laundry more easily)
  • cottons
  • woolens (hand-washable; there’s no shrinkage with this cycle and the laundry washed using this cycle will be handled gently)
  • minimum iron
  • Express 20 (suitable for lightly soiled laundry and for small loads, as the cycle only takes 20 minutes to complete)
  • Delicates
  • Outerwear (dedicated for outdoor textiles)
  • Proofing (with thermally fixing that ensures optimum water-repellent properties)
  • Dark garments/denim
  • Cottons eco (this cycle takes around 3 hours to complete and uses some preset resources, adjusting them according to the load of laundry and soiling level)
  • Separate rinse/starch
  • Drain/spin

The Express wash cycle of the Miele WDB020 is a great feature and it will allow you to do a load of approximately 7.5 pounds per cycle, in just 20 minutes. If you have a dirtier load, you can use the prewash and soak cycles.

The Miele WDB020 also comes with a self-cleaning cycle and you’ll see a cross symbol on the display, when it is time for you to clean the washer.

As we’ve already mentioned it, the Miele WDB020 has a very low energy consumption, bot in terms of electricity and water consumption. The annual water consumption of the washer is 10.340 liters and the energy consumption is 175 kWh. On a standard wash cycle (for instance the Cottons cycle, at 60 degrees), with a full load, the Miele WDB020 has an energy consumption of 0.90 kWh.

Other useful features of this washer are: the delay start up to 24 hours, which allows you to schedule washings, the PIN child code lock and of course, the famous Miele CapDosing technology.

Miele makes cleaning capsules for its washing machines and they claim you should use them if you want to get the best results with their washers. These cleaning capsules are superior to regular detergents and they come in various types, depending on your laundry type: they have silk capsules, outdoor capsules, sports, down capsules (for laundry with down filling) and more. The capsules have a dedicated compartment in the detergent drawer of the washer.

The Miele WDB020 goes for approximately $750, which is an average price, but considering the quality and features you are getting with this washing machine, you’ll get your money’s worth. The Miele WDB020 may not be full of fancy features such as WiFi control and other bells and whistles, but it is a sturdy and durable washer, with impressive cleaning abilities, a lot of wash cycles to choose from and a very low energy consumption.
