Ransomware is certainly one of the most expensive and damaging new malware. To fully restrict this type of threat from entering your PC, ESET NOD32 employs the Ransomware shield as your first line of defense against this vicious malware. Ransomware enters your PC through a non-suspicious download and soon after it takes full control over your PC, leaving you locked out of your data. The hackers then demand a large sum in order to give you use of your computer again. To prevent these types of intrusions, it’s important to have a reliable anti-malware solution like the ESET NOD32.

Every year the independent IT institute AV-Test evaluates 20-30 anti-malware products in order to find the best and most reliable malware removers. The tests are conducted several times a year, with the latest being in November and December of 2016. All products are tested for protection, usability and performance. ESET NOD32 scored highly and set its place firmly among the top anti-malware software in the industry.
The evaluation starts with the most important test for an internet security product, its reliability to protect your data. The software is set against more than 13,000 newly discovered malware threats and about 174 samples used to test its effectiveness against 0-day attacks. ESET got a perfect score.
The usability test measures how precise an anti-malware software is when its’ determining the validity of a file or website. Without a single misidentification or blockage of a legitimate site, ESET got the highest score.
To measure the lag caused by a malware remover, the testers perform various operations (copying files, downloading/installing apps, launching programs etc.) while the software is running its deep scan. AV-Test specialists recorded that ESET slowed down its host PC during the download and installation of frequently used apps. They also noted a slight lag while they were copying files locally and in the network. Even though ESET recorded a poorer score on the performance test, the anti-malware software still did better than the industry average in most categories.
While we were analyzing ESET’s website, we noticed it lacked some useful customer support features. Aside from contacting support through a request and by calling, there is no online chat option. This can be pretty frustrating if you’re looking for quick, personalized support but don’t have access to a phone at that particular moment.
