Nowadays, traditional washing machines are almost nowhere to be found. They are slowly being replaced by high-end ones that rely on touch-screen controls, tons of features like steaming and sanitize, and other functions that were simply non-existent back then. The Whirlpool 4.3 cu. Ft. Top-Loader with Quick Wash (WTW5000DW) chooses to go back to simpler times, both in its design and also with its functionality.
Design
The main thing that will easily distinguish the machine from its peers is its traditional design. It can probably be mistaken for an older model given its simplistic look, from its non-shiny surface, its gigantic and straight walls, and its knobs. These knobs are probably what sets it back from the others in terms of design. Choosing ergonomic capability instead of an updated feel, it will probably resonate with older users who are more comfortable with using knobs. It is not entirely bad, after all, as using these can be easier than touch-screen ones which may be oversensitive when used with wet hands.
The design of the washer will enable people to easily understand its functions. However, it may disappoint those who may want more in terms of aesthetic appeal.
Functionality
It doesn’t really have much new to offer aside from 12 wash cycles which include bulky items/sheets, drain & spin, clean washer with afresh, cold wash, casual, quick wash, soak, rinse & spin, delicate, normal, deep water wash, and heavy duty. This is a function that is to be expected in recent washing machines. The abundance of these is a good thing for those who have an active lifestyle who will occasionally need different types of washes for different types of stains and fabrics.
You can also set the temperature for washing, allowing it to become hot, warm, cool, cold, and tap cold. Adjusting these will allow you to prevent damage in your clothes. You can also change the soil level for your clothes allowing it to become soaked heavily, lightly, and on a mid-range.
Performance
The machine has a low-profile impeller which can make it gentle when cleaning clothes. Still, agitators are a better pick for those who want their clothes to be fully cleaned.
The machine uses a lot of water which may be bad news for those looking to reduce water use. Also, it is not Energy Star certified which is also bad news for your electric consumption. The machine is a not good recommendation for those who are on a tight budget.
The performance of the machine in terms of cleaning your machine is quite good especially when using the heavy-duty washing cycle.
Conclusion
Overall, the Whirlpool 4.3 cu. ft. Top-Loader with Quick Wash (WTW5000DW) is best for those looking for simplicity over anything. The product may be best for the elderly who may be confused with newer controls and for those who may prefer knobs and easy-to-read labels instead of touchscreen controls. The performance of the machine is enough to put it along modern machines. In terms of overall design and quality though, it is overshadowed by other washing machines.
