We’ve all heard of Ikea and most likely have at least one product from this brand in our home. Ikea is a Swedish multinational renowned all over the world for its furniture. They offer a huge variety of products at a really affordable price.
When it comes to the Vimle line, Ikea offers several types of products: sofas, loveseats, sectionals (3-seat, 4-seat, 5-seat, 6-seat and corner type) and ottomans with storage.
The Vimle 3-seat sofa
The 3-seat sofa comes in several colors, which is a great thing, because you can match it to any décor. You can find it in black blue, yellow, brown, dark green, beige and dark gray. Additionally, you can also purchase one of their other available modules such as 1 seater, footstool, etc.
It has the following dimensions:
Height including the back cushions – 31 ½”; Width - 94 7/8”; Depth – 38 5/8”;
Armrest width – 5 7/8”; Armrest height – 25 5/8”;
Seat (W X D X H) – 83 1/8” X 21 5/8” X 17 3/4“.
The frame is made of solid wood, plywood, fiberboard, particleboard, polyurethane foam and the cover is polyester (65%) and cotton (35%).
The seat inner cushions of the sofa are made of high-resilience polyurethane foam.
Unfortunately, the Vimle sofa doesn’t come assembled and will be delivered to you in several boxes. And, in spite of Ikea’s overall good reputation when it comes to assembling their furniture, the Vimle sofa can give you some headaches until you put it all together. You might find it hard to follow the instructions and you’ll waste quite some time to assemble it. You should also take note that Ikea doesn’t include any toss pillows with the sofa, so you have to buy some separately if you want.
Is the Vimle sofa comfortable?
One of the reasons why this sofa is so popular, aside from its attractive price tag, is the fact that it’s really comfortable. It is great for people up to 6 feet tall and it is great for napping on it. The cushions have the perfect consistency. They are soft enough to feel comfortable on them, but firm enough not to sink and wear within the first months.
The only parts of the sofa that are not too comfortable are the armrests, which are a bit on the thin side, but it is not a deal breaker in our opinion.
What about durability?
The cushions of the sofa are not the only ones firm and durable. The frame of the Vimle is also solid and doesn’t shift when you sit on the sofa. Another useful thing about the Vimle sofa is that it comes with a removable cover that you can throw in your washing machine and wash on your Normal cycle. That is great news especially for people with pets or children, because they can make a lot of mess.
Ikea offers a 10-year limited warranty for the Vimle sofa.
How much does it cost?
Just like with most Ikea products, the price of the Vimle sofa is one of this sofa’s biggest selling points. The Vimle 3-seat sofa can be purchased for $599.
All in all, we consider the Vimle sofa a good buy, because it is affordable, durable and comfortable. And if you’re also environmentally responsible, that’s one more reason why you should buy the Vimle. Ikea is renowned for using a lot of recycled materials and strive to minimize the amount of harmful chemicals they use in their products.
