There’s more to a healthy, attractive hair than just good genes. From the shampoo and hair products you’re using, to the hair dryer and the way you dry your hair, everything matters when it comes to getting the best out of your hair.
Most of us are using hair dryers on a regular basis, but little do we know about the importance of choosing the best dryer for our type of hair. We usually pick the cheapest hair dryer on the shelf, not knowing how important these appliances are for our overall hair style.
Types of hair dryers and types of hair
In addition to the general factors you should pay attention to when shopping for a hair dryer (price, power, weight), you should also consider your type of hair. Not all hair dryers work the same way and not all have the same effects on all types of hair. Based on the technology used and the material that’s coating the heating element, we can classify hair dryers into titanium, ceramic, tourmaline. You’ve probably heard about each of them, but you didn’t pay attention to those terms.
Titanium hair dryers are very light if not the lightest and they usually get very hot. That is why they are not recommended for thin, brittle hair. People with thicker hair should have no problem in using them.
Ceramic dryers are very popular because they are the most versatile, in that they do a great job with all types of hair (especially when used on fine or dry hair).
Then there’s tourmaline, which is basically a gemstone and these dryers are the priciest but also deliver the fastest results. They are recommended for people with curly, thick and frizzy hair.
Elchim 3900 review – is it any good?
The Elchim 3900 is made in Italy and it is not a budget dryer. In fact, it is quite expensive, it will cost you around $180 on Amazon.
The Healthy Ionic 3900 is a professional ionic ceramic dryer with a power of 2400W and it is available in 6 colors: black and gold, black and rose gold, black and silver, Venetian rose gold, white and yellow daisy.
The Elchim 3900 is a chubby looking dryer, but it’s not especially large. It measures approximately 7 X 8.5 X 3.5 inches and it weighs around 1.09 pounds. It is ergonomic and has a 9 feet cable, which means you don’t have to stay married to the outlet. The dryer is not heavier than other professional hair dryers and it shouldn’t tire your arm when you hold it for extended periods of time. However, if you do prefer something lighter, there’s another option for you: the Light Ceramic Ionic, which is another Elchim dryer.
The Elchim 3900 comes with 2 airflow concentrators and it has simple, basic settings. There are 3 heat settings, 2 speed settings and a cold air button. A travel bag is also included in the package.
While it does have an impressive power (2400W), the Elchim 3900 is impressively quiet.
Elchim boasts on the effectiveness of the Healthy Ionic 3900 and claims it can reduce your drying time by more than 30%. The dryer is indeed fast and manages to leave your hair hydrated, glossy and with no static electricity. The Elchim 3900 is great for people with thick, frizzy hair.
This dryer is not the largest one out there, but is not the smallest either. While it does offer a good grip and will feel comfortable in your hand, it’s not the most packable dryer you can find, and it is not foldable either. If you travel a lot, you might want to look for something more compact.
Other than that and the steep price, the Elchim 3900 is a great product. It is durable, cuts your drying time and keeps your hair in top shape.
