Air fryers are miraculous kitchen gadgets. They manage to cook delicious food while still taking your health into consideration. The hot air that circulates around your food obtains the perfect level of crispiness without forcing you to add huge amounts of butter or oils.

Here are 3 tasty and healthy recipes you can try if you own an air fryer:

Avocado fries: yes, you’ve read that correctly. You can make fries out of avocado.

Ingredients (4 servings):

2 avocados cut into 8 wedges each

½ cup flour

2 eggs

½ cup breadcrumbs

2 tbsp canola mayonnaise

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp water

¼ cup ketchup

1 ½ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp salt

 1 tbsp chili sauce

Beat the eggs and water in a dish and in another one, stir the flour and pepper. Use a third dish for the breadcrumbs. Start dredging the avocado pieces in the flour and then dip them in the eggs. Lastly, coat them with cooking spray. Cook them in the air fryer for 7,8 minutes (turn them over halfway), until they become golden. Take them out and sprinkle some salt on them. While they are cooking, prepare the dipping sauce by whisking the mayonnaise, vinegar, ketchup and chili sauce in a bowl. Serve the avocados with the sauce.

Stuffed peppers:

Ingredients:

2 green peppers (medium-sized), with no seeds and stems

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

4 ounces cheddar cheese (shredded)

Half an onion (chopped)

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

½ cup tomato sauce

1 tsp olive oil

8 ounces lean ground beef

Before cooking the peppers in the air fryer, boil them first for about 3 minutes, to make them tenderer. Sauté the garlic and onion in olive oil until they become golden and then let them cool. In a different dish mix all your ingredients (the tomato sauce, but just ¼ of it, Worcestershire sauce, the salt and pepper, the beef, sautéed garlic and onion) and add half of the cheddar cheese. Stuff all the peppers with this composition and top them with what’s left of your cheese and the rest of the tomato sauce. Fry/bake them in the air fryer for up to 20 minutes, until the meat is thoroughly cooked.

Fried chickpeas:

Ingredients (for 1 ½ cups):

1 pound 15 oz can chickpeas (drained)

2 tsp yeast flakes

½ tsp granulated onion

Pinch of salt

Cooking spray

Set the air fryer to 400 degrees and the timer for 12 minutes. Cook the chickpeas for 5 minutes then open the air fryer basket and spritz them with the cooking spray, add the yeast flakes, onion and salt. Let the chickpeas cook for the rest of 7 minutes, and, if you prefer them crispier, you can cook them for another 3 to 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
