Smartwatches are not just for adults anymore. Manufacturers are very much aware of what children today are all about so they are constantly striving to come up with gizmos that can satisfy both the needs of the youngsters and their sponsors – the parents.

Smartwatches for kids are both fun and useful. They can act as learning devices, fun gadgets, fitness trackers and monitoring tools.

Here are 5 of the best smartwatches for kids you can buy right now:

VTech Kidizoom DX2. Price: from $44. It is one of the most popular smartwatches for children on Amazon. It is suited for kids from 6 to 12 years old. The watch has a 1.4 inch color touchscreen, comes with 20 watch faces, has dual cameras, a voice recorder and a lot of smart, educational activities and games. However, you should know that the VTech Kidizoom doesn’t have location tracking capabilities.

LG GizmoPal2 (in partnership with Verizon). Price: around $80. The GizmoPal 2 is the newer version of the original GizmoPal. It is suited for kids age 4 to 12, it has a 1.3 inch touchscreen and a very comfortable strap. It comes in pink or blue, it has GPS tracking, location reminders, phone capabilities and a lot of fun features: a voice clock with funny sounds at a press of a button, a voice changer app, a fitness tracker, a stopwatch and timer. It is waterproof but it doesn’t have any games.

Leapfrog Leapband. Price: from $33. It is a very affordable watch, for children aged 4 to 7. It is mostly an activity tracker meant to encourage kids to exercise and be more active. Just like with the old-school Tamagotchi, children can opt for one of the 8 available pet pals, which are customizable. The Leapfrog has fun games and dozens of interesting activities.

Orbo Kids. Price: from $40. Ages: 3 to 8. It has a touchscreen, analog and digital watch faces, a tilting camera (you can save photos and videos on a micro SD card which is compatible with PCs and Android), 16 fun activities to choose from, an alarm and stopwatch mode, a pedometer and more. What it does lack though is a GPS tracker. It is a pretty complex smartwatch, it has a solid, yet comfortable strap and it focuses more on the learning and education aspects.

HereO. Price: $199 + $4.95/month service fee. This one might look like a toy, but it’s no toy watch. As you can see, the hereO watch is a pricey device. Funded on IndieGoGo, the hereO is an impressive GPS tracker (possibly the first GPS watch for children) which can be tracked for up to 72 hours. It is suited for children aged 3 and up, it comes in several vivid colors, it is supported in more than 120 countries and it really shines when it comes to monitoring capabilities. It has alert notifications, a panic feature, safe zone and more. It is light and comfortable on the hand and has a simple design.
