There’s nothing like a flavored cup of Joe to get your engine running in the morning. Let’s face it: the thought of a fresh, steaming, tasty cup of coffee can make almost anyone eager to get out of bed. But a good coffee is the result of several factors. Your coffee beans are important, your coffee maker is important, your way of preparing the coffee is important and even the quality of your water is important.

In this article we are going to address only the coffee maker topic. There are a lot of coffee makers you can use to brew your coffee. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. Here are some of the most commonly used coffee makers:

  • Drip coffee makers
  • Espresso machines
  • French presses
  • Percolators
  • Single-cup coffee makers (they use coffee pods)

If you are a coffee drinker, you’ve most likely used at least 1 or 2 of them throughout your life. And you most likely own or owned a drip coffee maker by now.

Why are drip coffee makers so popular all over the world?

Drip coffee makers are without a doubt among the most widespread coffee makers in the world. It is hard to find a household that doesn’t have one, because they are popular all across the globe.

The main reason why everybody loves them is their affordability. Drip coffee makers are generally budget-friendly and everyone can afford to get one. You can get a drip coffee maker for as low as $15, although, to be fair, we wouldn’t recommend it, because it is hard to find a decent drip coffee maker under $50.

Drip coffee makers are user-friendly and only consist of a few main components: the water reservoir, the filter area and the pot/carafe.

Depending on the model, you can make up to even 14 cups of coffee in a single brewing cycle, which is another advantage of drip coffee makers.

Most drip coffee makers today are automatic and come equipped with a lot of useful features. Of course, the more functions, the higher the price, but if you are willing to pay, you can enjoy a lot of useful features and programmability: temperature control, strength control that lets you control the strength of your coffee, built-in coffee grinder, timer to schedule the brewing, keep warm function, WiFi and app control and more.

Are Braun drip coffee makers any good?

Braun is a globally renowned German appliance brand that has been around for almost a century. They design and manufacture a wide range of appliances, such as blenders, coffee makers, hand mixers and more.

Braun BrewSense – Braun’s flagship in terms of coffee makers

When it comes to drip coffee makers, BrewSense is the best-selling line produced by Braun.

Braun BrewSense drip coffee makers are elegant in design, durable in construction and user-friendly. They are also modern in features and capable of producing irresistible cups of coffee.

There are two note-worthy models to be mentioned: the BrewSense KF7170 and the BrewSense KF7370.

Braun BrewSense KF7170 overview

The BrewSense KF7170 was by far the most popular Braun coffee maker, until an upgraded, touch control version was released.

This BrewSense model has a 12-cup capacity, an LCD display and it is programmable. It weighs a bit over 7 pounds and measures 7.9 X 7.9 X 14.2 inches.

The BrewSense KF7170 has a premium design, a stainless steel finish and the LCD display shows a digital clock. It comes with a glass carafe and a permanent gold-tone filter.

There are 9 buttons in a row, which let you adjust the temperature and strength of the coffee (you can choose between ‘regular’ and ‘bold’), the number of cups you want to prepare and the clock. There is also a Clean button, an Auto On and Auto Off button, the ‘brew’ button and the power button, which is placed below the other 9.

There is a 24-hour timer that lets you choose exactly when you want to make the coffee and if you don’t want to make 12 cups, you can use the ‘1-4’ button and make only up to 4 cups of coffee at once. The water level indicator makes it easier for you to know exactly how much water to add.

Price. On the official Braun store, the BrewSense KF7170 can be purchased for $129.95.

Braun BrewSense KF7370 overview

The BrewSense KF7370 is a newer, upgraded version of the KF7170. It is a bit pricier but it comes with more modern features.

The BrewSense KF7370 has a 12-cup capacity, too, and the same 24-hour programmable timer. It has the same dimensions, display and design and the only main difference between this model and the KF7170 is the touch control display available with the BrewSense KF7370.

The buttons of the KF7170 has been replaced by touch controls. From left to right, you’ve got the main controls: brew, auto on, clean, clock, set, mode and the 1-4 setting. There are also separate settings above for the strength of the coffee, with the possibility of choosing between fast, bold and regular.

There is also a cool digital indicator that shows the freshness of your coffee.

The BrewSense KF7370 comes with a ‘FastBrew’ technology that lets you brew 12 cups of coffee in under 10 minutes.

The model kept the 24-hour timer so you can program the coffee maker to start the brewing cycle whenever you want.

Price. The BrewSense KF7370 is a bit more expensive than the KF7170 model. You can order it on the official Braun website for $169.95.
